A visit to the hospital is intended to heal a person. Unfortunately, due to medical malpractice and negligence, people are injured at hospitals every year. In fact, medical errors are the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Raising awareness is the first step in making hospitals safer for all of us. The medical malpractice lawyers at Lowenthal & Abrams want to bring attention to hospital safety – and discuss solutions to the issue.
That’s where you come in – we want to hear your ideas, and we’re willing to pay the best submission! The Lowenthal & Abrams team is offering a scholarship to the student who best answers the question “What Law or Laws Would You Creat to Make Hospitals Safer?” Details follow.
Submit an original, 500-word essay answering the question posed above. The Lowenthal & Abrams team will select the best entry from all submissions and award a $1000 scholarship to the winning student.
How to Enter
First, write your essay. It needs to answer the question “What Law or Laws Would You Creat to Make Hospitals Safer?” This might include suggestions such as limits on patients per nurse, limits on hours in a shift, or similar ideas.

Who is Eligible?
- High School Seniors accepted to University, College, or Trade School
- Students Currently Enrolled in University, College, or Trade School
All submissions must be received by 12/1/2017. One winner will be announced 12/31/2017, the award will be for the Spring 2018 semester.
