In Pennsylvania Memorial Day is the Holiday with the Fewest Car Accidents from DUIs
According to Philly.com, Memorial Day is the holiday with the fewest DUI related car accidents here in Pennsylvania. Yet Surprisingly, it is quite high for DUI arrests
The riskiest holiday for Pennsylvania DUI accidents is New Year’s, followed by Labor Day, Easter and Thanksgiving.
In 2012, there were 26.3 DUI related crashed in Pennsylvania for New Year’s weekend. There were 16.5 per day for Memorial Day Weekend. On the other hand, there were an average of 101 DUI arrests for Memorial Day Weekend and only 95 per day for New Year’s Weekend.
The holiday with the highest number of DUI arrests in 2012 was Labor Day Weekend, with 110 per day. The lowest was Christmas weekend with 69.6 per day.
Clearly a lot of people are driving drunk on Memorial Day Weekend. The fact they don’t get in as many accidents isn’t particularly comforting.
Please be careful on Monday. Don’t drink and drive and watch out for those who are doing so. Suffering a serious injury due to a car accident with a drunk driver is no way to start the summer.
