Follow the steps below to make your social media account private on each platform.

Facebook Mobile App

  • Touch the 3 horizontal lines at the very top right to view the Menu.
  • Touch the gear icon which will appear underneath those lines at the top right.
  • Scroll to the section called “Audience and visibility” and touch “Posts”
  • Touch “Who can see your future posts?” Choose “Friends” touch “Done” if possible, or else return to the previous screen.
  • Touch “Limit who can see past posts” Touch “LIMIT PAST POSTS” and then again in the popup.
  • Touch “Who can see your stories?” Choose “Friends”, then return to the previous screen.
  • Touch “Who can see your future reels?” Choose “Friends”

  • Visit this Facebook settings link, the Privacy tab: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=privacy
  • Locate the “Your activity” section on the page.
  • Locate “Who can see your future posts” and click the link which says “Edit” to the right of it.
  • Select “Friends”.
  • Locate “Limit the audience for posts you’ve shared with friends of friends or Public?” and click “Limit Past posts”
  • A button will appear that says “Limit Past Posts” Click that.

  • Touch the profile icon at the very bottom right to view the Profile page.
  • Touch the 3 horizontal lines at the very top right to view the Menu.
  • Touch “Settings” at the top of the menu.
  • Touch “Privacy”
  • Locate the “Account privacy” section at the top of the page.
  • Slide the slider to the right of the text “Private account”
  • Touch the big blue button that pops up which says “Switch to Private”. Finished.

  • Touch “Settings and privacy” at the bottom of the menu.

  • Slide the slider to the right of the text “Protect your Tweets”. Finished.
